Joseph A. Duran ("Uncle Joe")
Joseph A. Duran ("Uncle Joe")

Joe is a retired college fast-pitch coach, who can't seem to retire...he is hoping to coach the girls at the local high school next season. He taught swimming and life guarded "back in the day" in Los Angeles, CA. He has always enjoyed the water, aquatic activities, and working with children. He is a current Water Safety Instructor and will teach classes on occasion.
Uncle Joe, as the children know him, is our "customer service" guy, answering calls, setting up the table, greeting the families, but most importantly, he builds special relationships with the children since he is the one the children go to get their hands stamped after class!

Ariel M. Duell
Ariel M. Duell

Ariel starting swimming when she was just two months old, in her Mother's Parent-Child class. She took to the water quickly and has been involved in aquatics ever since.

Ariel taught her first swimming lessons when she was only 12 years old. She was a junior lifeguard for five years; in her fourth year, she a student assistant to the instructor of the program; and in her fifth year, she co-taught the program. During college she organized and implemented the YMCA Swim Camp Program on Maui.  She has worked as a lifeguard and she has been one of our "master" instructors, assisting with training new instructors.

After graduating from Concordia University with a phsychology and art BA, while on an academic and athletic scholarship for basketball, she moved to Las Vegas to attend graduate school. Although we miss her, as well as her students missing her, it is a great opportunity for her and we wish her well. The great thing is when she is home from school (on vacation), she will be teaching lessons!
