Fundamentals of Instructor Training
~American Red Cross Courses

Fundamentals in Teaching (FIT)

The FIT course will introduce instructor candidates to the history, structure, and activities of the American Red Cross (ARC) and prepares them to teach ARC specialty courses like swimming, CPR, Lifeguard Training, First Aid, Babysitting, etc. to diverse populations. It also introduces candidates to the policies and procedures of the ARC and ensures course consistency, quality, and appropriate training. Students will receive a certification at the end of class and then be able to go on to get a Lifeguard Training Instructor, Water Safety Instructor, CPR & First Aid Instructor, or a variety of other specialty course Certification from American Red Cross. This training is a prerequisite to ALL Red Cross instructor specialty courses.

*If you already have this certification, you will need to provide an original document indicating that you completed the course, with the completion date, and authorized signature.

We are now offering a Virtual FIT course, which can be done from the comfort of your home, office, or any place which has internet access.  Once you register and pay for this course, you will receive the URL (link) and access code for the course.  Once it is completed, we will send you confirmation that it is done and we will submit the necessary paperwork for your certification (to the American Red Cross).

If you are interested in the FIT course, please complete the registration form, indicating either the Virtual option or in-person option, and make your PayPal payment; then we will send you a confirmation email.

*You are responsible for ordering and purchasing all the materials and books for this course from the Red Cross Branch. FIT Book ($24.95).  The ARC is now offering the material in electronic format; you'd have to contact them for this information.
